The Adoptive Family Support Program, established in 1995, recognizes that adoption is a lifelong experience. We are committed to offering families support throughout their journey together. We offer adoption competent, innovative, and comprehensive services to help families with their unique needs related to adoption. The program, which promotes healthy attachments, offers services to children and their families after placement and finalization. Services are available to any adoptive family in the Central Virginia area. The Adoptive Family Support Program staff helps families anticipate, identify, and respond to issues that affect the adoptive family. A range

What's Unique about Our
Adoptive Family Support Program
Services offered are adoption competent and build on strengths of the child and family. If the program is unable to offer a needed service, we work with the family to connect them with the appropriate service provider. We have established collaborative relationships with numerous service providers in an effort to meet the needs of adoptive families. Any adoptive family living in the Central Virginia region, regardless of where the adoption took place, is eligible for services.
Coordinators2inc is the Central Virginia provider of Adoptive Family Preservation Services, which is a program funded by the Virginia Department of Social Services. We have also initiated a program called “Pathways to Healing.” Through this federally funded model demonstration project, Coordinators2inc developed a comprehensive assessment protocol for children and their families, who are challenged by attachment and/or trauma and loss issues. This clinical assessment provides objective information about the neurological, sensory, and adaptive developmental, and emotional functioning of a child as well as information about the parent-child relationship.
