ADOPTION FROM CHINA

With thousands of children in Chinese orphanages, many children await adoption. China's people and government support American families adopting these bright and beautiful children.

Coordinators2inc of Richmond, Virginia, in partnership with Harrah Family Services (HFS) in Texas, offers a comprehensive adoption program for those wishing to build their family through intercountry adoption. Since 1995, the HFS-AIM China Adoption Program has been recognized by the Chinese adoption authorities as a legitimate entity for U.S. families pursuing adoption of Chinese-born children. Coordinators2inc intercountry services for China include home study preparation, coordination of and assistance with referral of a child, adoptive placement and supervision, and information/resources specific to Asian adoption. We work closely with competent, professional support staff in Texas and in China assisting each family in preparation for their journey in China.

Children Available: Age nine months and older, no siblings available. Children mostly reside in state run Chinese orphanages. Although many children have developmental delays due to institutional care, they have good future prognoses. Medical conditions of the children range from relatively healthy to minor, special needs. Transcribed medical reports, laboratory test results, and photos of the child are provided.

China's Eligibility Requirements: Married couples may apply. No restrictions regarding numbers of years married. No more than four children in the home. Adoptive parents need to be ages 30-45 to adopt an infant (one parent can be over age 45). Exceptions to age are made on a case-by-case basis.

Foreign Program Fees/Expenses: Approximately $19,000 for total program, including travel.

Length of Process: Wait time between submittal of dossier to China and referral of child is approximately seven months. Wait time from acceptance of referral to travel is usually between 4-8 weeks.

Travel Requirements: Both parents (in the case of a couple), initially travel to the province where the child resides, and then proceed with their child to the U. S. Consulate in Guangzhou, where the child's visa is obtained. While traveling in China, parents are accompanied by an experienced bilingual interpreter/guide.

Length of Stay: The average length of stay in China is between 10-12 days. However, the family should be prepared for a two week stay.

Post-Placement Requirements: Four post-placement visits and accompanying reports over a twelve-month period.
