Adoption From Kazakhstan

when Coordinators²inc, began its Russian Adoption Program, over 200 children from other countries have been placed with adoptive families. Coordinators²inc began its Kazakhstan Adoption program in January of 2000. Our intercountry services include home study preparation, adoptive placement and supervision, information and referral resources specific to Eastern European adoption. Please see our Intercountry Getting Started page for more information. We provide support and assistance to families from initial contact through adoption finalization. We are able to assist each family in preparing for their journey to Eastern Europe and work closely with an established foundation that has excellent coordinators and translators in a variety of regions.

Children Available: Ages six months and older, reflecting characteristics of Asian, Caucasian or Gypsy cultures. All children available for adoption presently reside in either orphanages or in hospitals. Although many children have developmental delays due to institutional care, they have good future prognoses. Medical conditions of the children range from relatively healthy to significant special needs. Many medical conditions are minor and/or correctable. Translated medical reports, laboratory test results and photos of the child are provided. Video of child available for many referrals.

Kazakhstan's Eligibility Requirements: Single women or couples may apply. No restrictions regarding number of years married or number of children in the home. Presently, there is no firm age requirement for singles or couples desiring to adopt. Applicants should make a combined income of at least $45,000 and own their home (although exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis).

Foreign Program Fees/Expenses: Approximately $28,000 for total program including travel.

Length Of Process: Wait time between submittal of dossier to referral of child can range anywhere from 1-5 months, depending on the gender of the child. Wait time from acceptance of referral to travel is about four to eight weeks.

Travel Requirements: Both parents initially travel to Moscow, then to Kazakhstan to the orphanage where their child resides. You will exit through Moscow, Russia. While traveling in Eastern Europe, parents are escorted by a bi-lingual coordinator.

Length Of Stay: In most cases, the average stay in Kazakhstan is 4 to 5 weeks.

Post-Placement Requirements: Six post-placement visits over a three-year period.
