Waiting Child

Virginia Children Waiting for a Forever Family

There are hundreds of children waiting for adoptive families in Virginia. These children need forever families through adoption.  Many of these children are nine and older and have experienced trauma in their lives.  They  need what every child needs; to be part of a family, to be treated with kindness and respect, to be nurtured, to have fun and to have a place that is called HOME.

Children who leave the foster care system without a permanent family do not often overcome the odds of dropping out of school, become incarcerated and/or homeless.  They often require community mental health and welfare assistance programs.  These children deserve so much more from us.  Coordinators2inc provides free informational meetings for families to answer any questions, workshops regarding adoption issues and parenting techniques, support through the process and post adoption services.

The fees for training and home study services for children you see featured here are offered through a state grant.  There is no cost to parents who adopt children in the foster care system in Virginia.

Marki is a friendly and outgoing teenager. He describes himself as laid back, nice and intelligent. He enjoys basketball and football, but also likes crocheting. Marki's favorite foods are spaghetti, chicken and pizza. He likes to listen to rap and hip- hop music. Marki would like to become a lawyer or work with computers when he grows up. He would do well in a family that can spend a lot of time with him and helping him to feel a part of their family. Marki enjoys being active and wants to be in a family who does a lot of things together. He is a kind and understanding child who likes to hear praise and encouraging words. Marki is ready for someone to love him and help him achieve his dreams.

Matthew is a sweet boy who is eager to join a family. Matthew experiences the world differently than other children. Matthew is responsive to nurturing touch. He enjoys toys that make music and playing in water. Matthew especially likes it when someone stays with him until he falls asleep. Matthew likes to carry items with certain textures with him to provide him with soothing and security. He is currently 14 years old. Matthew needs parents who have experience with children who have special needs or can be trained on how to best meet his developmental needs. He is waiting for a family who can celebrate each one of his successes.

Diamond is a kind and funny teenager. She is anxious to find a forever family. Diamond is very affectionate and thrives on attention. She is currently in the 10 th grade and is 16 years old. She loves cheerleading, playing basketball, listening to music, and watching television. She especially enjoys having her hair and nails done as a special treat or reward. Diamond has learned to take time outs when she is feeling overwhelmed or frustrated. She is currently living in a group home and she really would like to find a family of her own. She says “I want a mommy.” Diamond prefers a family headed by a single mother, although two parent families would be considered. She would do best if she were the youngest or only child in the home.

CJ (Charles) is a friendly, outgoing and active child who enjoys a wide variety of activities and particularly loves swimming, other water sports and many other sports such as football, etc.  He can be very engaging, caring and has a great sense of humor. CJ loves cats and dogs and does well with them. He is 13 years old. CJ needs a mom and dad who are willing to work closely with a therapist to learn specialized parenting techniques designed to assure him that he is safe, protected, accepted and loved as he will initially have doubts that these needs will be met. CJ will do best in a 2-parent home or with a single dad and no other children.  CJ will be a really wonderful addition to the right family. He seeks approval and love.
